MADE by DWC Resale Boutique and the Plaid Coat

I’m not sure how many of you like shopping at resale, vintage or thrift shops.  It’s actually something I’ve loved to do for many, many years.  My love of this kind of shopping began while I was in high school…many, many years ago.  Let me tell you about my recent experience at the MADE by DWC Resale Boutique and the Plaid Coat.

Last December, me and my blogger squad Melanin Movement Los Angeles, were asked to volunteer at the MADE by DWC (Downtown Women’s Center) Resale Boutique for their annual holiday event.

The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women.  DWC envisions a Los Angeles with every woman housed and on a path to personal stability. Their mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy.  All proceeds of sales from their resale boutique go towards helping these women get back on their feet.

I was tasked with working in the boutique for the day.  Now you know, I couldn’t say no to shopping for a cause!  There were crazy amazing deals that would have taken more control than I have to resist. I’m just saying.

In between my volunteer duties, I looked through the racks which contained upscale resale and gently used items from designer brands and the like.  I finished my duties for the day with this beautiful taupe and red plaid trench in hand.  And guess how much I paid for it?  $20!

Isn’t it gorgeous?

If you live in the Los Angeles area, love shopping and want to give back at the same time, check out Made by DWC.

Until next time, love and light!
