Who came up with the term, Wake, Pray, Slay? Although, I am unsure of its origins, the phrase is catchy and perfectly conveys the lifestyle for many women of faith, like myself.

Stylistas, how do you begin your day? With meditation or prayer to the most high? Do you awaken each morning with thanks and a grateful heart?  I do.  With the craziness of life and trying to balance it all with a little bit of grace, there is no other option!

The definition of the word “slay” in the Merriam Webster dictionary is “to impress strongly; overwhelm, especially by humor. Also, to slaughter, assassinate, ruin, or annihilate.  My first initial thought of the word being used in this phrase, was giving a strong, positive impression through your appearance, passion or purpose.  But, my friend Jan put it into perspective on a whole other level! I told her of my plans to host a women’s gathering with this theme and I mentioned the word “slay”.  She said, “you mean the enemy, right?”  And I said, girl yessss!

With all things in perspective, it’s really unimportant where the term came from, but it’s lovely and we should try to live it every day!

Until next time, love and light!

Julie
